“The Five-Minute Archie”
The enclosed menus give you a quick starter kit for Archie. These menus
are very slight variations of the Archie menus I’ve implemented on
Glassell Park. The primary Archie menu, called
Archie Menu
is for the general use of your callers, if you want. Its commands are
harmless and informative. It has a level-250 command branching to a
Sysop Menu
which contains many useful sysop commands and which branches to two
other sysop-level menus:
Log Utils Menu
-and-
User Utils Menu
You may need to adjust pathnames for your system. I’ve removed all
paths, assuming that Archie and its menus are all grouped together at
the same level as Host. A couple of the User Utility commands require a
password -- I’ve set them to accept the word “Pass” (no quotes) as a
password. Change it as you please, or eliminate the password by deleting
the menu options field.
One item that *will* need adjustment is the
N>ew file scan
command on the Archie Sysop Menu. It reads a script called
Newfile Script
a sample of which is included, but this sample is pathed specifically
for the Glassell Park BBS. I use it to quickly check every upload area
for activity.
If you aren’t running Dungeons or any other Command 50 game, you will
obviously want to eliminate the branch to Dungeons in the Sysop Menu.
It's there just as an example of how to do this.
You will find another set of Archie menus, with some variations, in the
Archie 1.53 Stuffit archive which is included on this disk. Look at them
for more ideas…
